STEP-BY-STEP PATHWAY

The BC-to-Ontario Real Estate Pathway gives you a clear starting point for learning how Ontario property markets, financing, and purchase decisions may differ from British Columbia.

Step - 1

Complete the BC Licensing Course and Exam

• Register for UBC’s licensing course.
• Meet eligibility and English requirements.
• Complete coursework and pass the exam.
• Use Smart CPD for additional exam preparation.


Step - 2

Meet BC’s Licensing Requirements

• Join a BC brokerage.
• Complete the required pre-licensing APC components.
• Submit documents and a criminal record check.
• Obtain BCFSA approval and meet remaining APC deadlines.

Step - 3

Plan Your Ontario Application

• Confirm your eligibility with RECO.
• Check how your BC licence conditions affect eligibility.
• Arrange employment with an Ontario brokerage.

Step - 4

Complete Ontario’s Requirements

• Pass the Interprovincial Challenge Examination.
• Submit your RECO application and documents.
• Complete required checks and pay fees and insurance.
• Begin working once authorized by RECO.
Remember: Passing the BC exam alone does not qualify you to work in Ontario. BC licensing and a separate Ontario application are required.
